What follows is a 5-hour participatory training on climate science. It is easily divided into different sections so you can grab different sections and tools you might want to use for a training.

A NOTE FOR FACILITATORS
The original course is designed for a generous 5.5 hours. This is assuming you do not rush through slides. Since these are slides, you can quickly remove tools that are less appropriate for your audience. You can of course add lunch breaks or lead this as a several-day workshop.

Because some facilitators talk faster and others slower, there are some slides with a designation “OPTIONAL.” Check in with your time flow to see if you want to use those optional slides if you have it – or just skip them to make up time. If you need to gain time quickly, you can also gain time by removing some of the “practice” sessions (e.g. researching other Solutions, Interactive Case Study).

This course is flexible and could be a single day — or it could be split over half-days or partial days. Either way, we recommend a break between each of the major sections — even if just a short break. It’s exhausting to be in front of the computer screen. Because of how people may adjust times, not all the breaks are built into the design, including any lunch breaks.

If we were designing this for a specific campaign, we would definitely add slides near the end to hard pitch the specific local campaign we’re working on.
