Why Now?

The IPCC is clear: to keep us on track for 1.5 degrees and to phase out fossil fuels, we need to build 1.5TW of solar and wind capacity every year by 2030. To meet this demand, we have to equip our movement to rapidly scale up these solutions worldwide.  

This is why, alongside movement allies, we are hosting the first-of-its-kind global activation gathering to scale up community-led renewable projects. Powerful keynote speakers, skills training, and workshops will recharge the movement and unlock people’s agency towards creating a future that puts equitable access to renewable energy at the heart of the movement for Climate Justice.

We believe in the impact we can achieve from hosting such a global gathering:  Global Power Shift in 2013 catalyzed powerful local campaigns, national movements and global mobilisations for bold climate action around the world. And the Global Just Recovery Gathering in 2021 innovated with a highly accessible and hybrid training which created new momentum after the global climate strikes and the pandemic disruption in 2020.
